Frances Willard student Aunah Jones was one of 150 elementary students from across the State of Illinois to participate as an All-State Musician at the Illinois Music Educators Association annual Festival in January. Aunah is the first elementary student in the Rock Island-Milan School District to be named as an All-State Musician. 

 

The RIMSD #41 Board of Education gave the 6th grader a certificate of recognition at the Feb. 26 regular meeting. Aunah also received school-wide recognition at their Morning Meeting on Friday, March 1. "We are excited to see where she goes from here," said Assistant Principal Nikki Melody.

 

"Aunah worked hard to achieve All-State Musician," said Mrs. Gardner, Music Teacher at Frances Willard. "She even choose to give up her recess and stay after school to work with her music and be prepared!"

 

Aunah enjoyed all of the recognition, but boiled it all down into one statement: "I just like to sing."
