On Thursday, September 26, Illinois State Representative Mike Halpin got to follow and observe Rock Island High School Principal Jeff Whitaker.

The “Principal for a Day” program gives an opportunity for principals and other administrators to build and refine relationships with their State and Federal legislators. Through the program, lawmakers are invited to visit schools in their district, interact with staff and students, and perform selected administrative tasks during their visit.

It’s a way for lawmakers to see what all goes into the role of being a principal but also to say thank you for their dedication and their hard work.  

Representative Halpin got to observe several classes as well as chat with students and staff.
