On November 5 RIMSD#41 staff, Rock Island Mayor, city council members, and school board members attended a ribbon-cutting at Edison Junior High School.

It was to celebrate the completion of the renovation projects that includes a new main office, a library configuration, and a new secure entryway with an accessible ramp at the front entrance.

Visitors now have to go to the main office first before gaining access to the school building.

The total cost of the project was $805,606. The school district used the Rock Island County 1% Sales Tax revenue to complete the construction project.

Edison Junior High, built in 1925, is one of the oldest school buildings in the district. The building has been through two major renovations, one in 1956 and then again in 1970.

The district will also have ribbon-cuttings for Earl Hanson and Horace Mann Early Learning Center for their renovations thanks to the 1% sales tax.
