Academy Teacher Recognized at Illinois State Board of Education Luncheon

On June 19, The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) joined the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) and the Illinois Education Association (IEA) to honor 59 Illinois educators whose professional organizations selected them as the best in their fields during the 2017-18 school year.
Rock Island Academy teacher Tami Kelley, was one of the 59 recognized at the eighth annual Exemplary Teacher Recognition Award Luncheon at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Conference Center. Kelley was recognized by the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics as Promising New Teacher of the school year. Read story >>
"Educators help students imagine and aspire to futures they would not otherwise think possible," said State Superintendent of Education Tony Smith, Ph.D. "Educators see the possibilities in young people before they can even see them in themselves. I express deep thankfulness for the educators across the state who make a strong social, economic, and civic future possible for all our communities." 
"Teachers and students at the Rock Island Academy are so proud of Mrs. Kelley," said Principal Tia Edwards. "She really makes a difference in the classroom!"
