Communication Tools

The Rock Island-Milan School District uses the communication tools listed below as a way to communicate with parents and staff.

Website
The RIMSD 41 website www.rimsd41.org is the primary source of information for the school district and each school building. The web calendar is the place where school events are listed as well as overall district holidays and Board of Education meeting notices. The school district does use Social Media to distribute information, however applications like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are not intended to be two-way communication tools.

VIMEO
Vimeo is video streaming service. RIMSD #41 pays a subscription fee to house Board of Education meeting videos, school specific videos, and any other school district related material. Vimeo is also used for livestreaming events such as high school graduation. https://vimeo.com/rimsd

REMIND
Remind is a messaging app for communication between teachers and their students and families and is certified by iKeepSafe for privacy practices related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. RIMSD #41 pays for a school district subscription and also uses it for mass notification purposes. The Remind syncs with the RIMSD K12 database each evening.  More >>

MailChimp Email News
The Rock Island-Milan School District uses Mail Chimp for school Email Hotlines! Each school has a signup form under Families > Communications where parents can sign up to receive information. A confirmation email will be sent from MailChimp.

The RIMSD #41 School District also has a Phone Notification system and will send a phone call to parents about school closings, special events as well as other important information. Rock Island-Milan School District families are automatically subscribed to the phone notification system when their child is enrolled at school. The system syncs with the K12 database each night to ensure accurate, up-to-date information.
