Hello Rock Island-Milan School Community This is Dr. Lawrence your superintendent here at the Rock Island High School Fieldhouse practicing social distancing. I have a few announcements for you. Last week Governor Pritzker extended stay at home or till Saturday May 30th. I know that a lot of you are worrying about when you are going to pick up personal items. I'm working with your school principal to put together a plan that we can do that safely. So please stay tuned for important information that'll be coming in the next week or so regarding how staff members and parents can pick up personal items. We're going to continue with our meal distribution two days a week at the seven locations that we've been using through this whole school closure. We're going to continue with a remote learning in the use of Google Classroom, now there will be a slight change on May 4th for all of our ELEMENTARY homeroom, PE, Music and EL teachers will have their very own Google classroom [for elementary level]. Parents I know that you and this will be a little bit of a difference for you but remember each of those classrooms will have their own codes, and that information from your classroom teachers you can also go to www.rimsd41.org for more information. For families that still need computers or you need Chromebooks technology, please contact your teachers, contact your school principal so that we can get you the equipment you need up-to-date with what's going on daily. For parents in need of social emotional learning support, please continue to contact the counselors or social workers and work with your teachers because we all care about you and want to get you the support needed. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of those seniors and everyone who responded for ideas on Class of 2020 graduation, we had lots of ideas: parades, drive-throughs, virtual graduation, pushing the dates back. We haven't selected one individual idea yet, but please know that is forthcoming stay tuned for the information and we'll get that to you. For parents, I'm going to ask for your support again, the weather is going to break, but we don't want our children out on playground large groups, or playing on the school equipment in large groups. So please make sure that you are supporting us with social distancing and only being in areas that support an essential need when necessary. That's about it for this week. I want to say I again, just continue to stay safe they healthy stay positive reach out for support, because that's why we're here and we hope to see you very soon! Take care!
