Superintendent Dr. Lawrence's weekly message about the current survey and the upcoming school year.

Good Morning Rock Island-Milan School Community this is Dr. Lawrence, your superintendent for this week's message coming from the campus of Washington Junior High School -home of the Warriors! And also proud of their AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program this morning. Well this is going to be a very busy week for us in the Rock Island-Milan School District. For one, July 1st open our online registration for the school year. That will be open through July 24th. For all those returing family members get a chance to register online thank you for doing so already On July 15th 16th and 17th there will be in-person registration for all kindergarten families and for new registrants to our district. So for returning families that have already participated on the online registration, you do not have to attend the 15th 16th and 17th, that is mainly for all Kindergarten families and for new families District to help them complete the proof registration process. That's a big, big amount of work going on there so we thank all of you for registering to our great district and we look forward to seeing you and touching base with you. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents, staff and students who took our return to school survey that opened up last week. So far we have more than 5000 respondents giving us pertinent information that's going to have an impact on what our return the school plan looks like. Yes we will have remote learning as a part of it and yes, there will be blended learning model. But the data collected from this survey will help us become a little more precise in the decision-making. The survey open until tomorrow if you haven't had a chance to take I ask that you go and do so, but to have more than 5,000 responses giving us some great information going to make sure that we continue to make the best decision possible for our district and I will continue to say that safety is so important safety of our children safety of our staff members. Means a lot to us here in the Rock Island-Milan School District. Lastly I'll share that on Wednesday of this week there will be a Virtual Board [of Education] Meeting, we'll have a special meeting so we get a chance to share a little bit more of this survey data with you and also they'll be a recommendation on how we start school out. That information will be available for you if you go to our district website www.rimsd41.org and tune into the meeting that night at 6 p.m. We'll have some discussion about how we start school as all of the school districts have done in the past week trying to put together plans to ensure that we do our best our best job of educating our students and keeping them safe. We are going to continue to follow Governor Pritzker's Restore the Illinois plan, whick has some suggestions and recommendations in place. We ask that you familiarize yourself with that as well, go to the Governor's website, State of Illinois website for more information there but just know that we're going to put our best foot forward and putting together a plan that ensures safety and the best academic instruction that weekend give to our students on a daily basis. It's a warm one out here I'm not complaining I'm loving it I love the sunshine but I'll leave you as always do; stay safe, stay healthy and above all stay positive and understanding during this challenging times.
