We're excited to welcome the new principal of Rock Island High School, Dr. Patty Ulrich! Dr. Ulrich is a passionate leader dedicated to scholar success, community partnership, and a bright future for all. Below is her introductory letter to the Rock Island High School community, along with a survey inviting scholars, families, and community members to share their thoughts and hopes for the future.

Dear Rock Island High School Students, Families, and Community Members,

It is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Rock Island High School. I am honored to serve in this role and eager to begin this journey with you. I look forward to meeting our incredible students, partnering with families, and connecting with members of the broader Rock Island community.

I bring over 11 years of school and district leadership experience, including three years as a middle school principal, two years as a high school assistant principal, and several years in district-level administration. I spent the majority of my leadership journey in the Hazelwood School District in the St. Louis area, where I served in various roles over the course of a decade.  In my district level roles, I served as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Educational Programming and the English Language Arts Coordinator, where I led district-wide initiatives focused on instructional equity, innovative programming, and student-centered learning. 

Throughout my career, I have remained committed to the belief that all students can thrive when given the right support, high expectations, and meaningful relationships. I am passionate about creating inclusive, engaging school environments where students are empowered to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I also believe that the success of our students depends on strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community. I am committed to building those connections and working together to ensure every student at Rock Island High School feels seen, valued, and prepared for life beyond graduation.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Cameron Ulrich, and our four grown children. As a family, we love to travel and camp, and I find great joy in exploring new places and making memories outdoors.

It is truly a privilege to lead Rock Island High School. I am inspired by the strength, pride, and commitment of this community and the dedication to excellence that is already present. I look forward to a year filled with collaboration, growth, and shared success.
