We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaching staff for their dedication and teamwork. Way to represent!
Congratulations to our Rock Island Special Olympics Basketball team! We were proud to send them off with a Walk of Champions celebration as they qualified for the state tournament, taking place tomorrow at the Shirk Center at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL.
We kicked off the celebration on the third floor - our athletes and coaches walked through each floor of the school while scholars and staff lined the halls to cheer them on and celebrate their hard work and dedication.
We are proud to have such a phenomenal team represent Rocky at the state level. Congratulations to coaches Jeff Martens, Lisa Martens, and Meghan Miers for their leadership in guiding our team to this outstanding achievement! Good luck tomorrow!
This morning, Superintendent Dr. Williams had the opportunity to experience the installation firsthand. Scholars led a tour through the building, proudly showcasing their work and explaining the ideas and techniques behind each piece.
Following the tour, scholars also shared their thoughts on the importance of the arts in school, expressing that arts education should be introduced even earlier in scholars’ academic journeys.
The Edison art class is led by Mrs. Cassandra Salas-Mikaio, recipient of the Illinois State Board of Education Award of Excellence for Classroom Teachers.
Best of luck to all of our student-athletes as they represent their school at state!

Principal Mr. DiIulio invited all of the state qualifiers to the cafeteria and asked them to complete a short reflection about what it meant to qualify for state in their respective activities. Meanwhile, classes quietly lined up in the hallways, ready to cheer on their classmates. When the scholars stepped out, they were greeted by a wave of applause from their peers and staff.
Congratulations to all for their incredible achievements! 🎉👏

At the March 10 Board of Education meeting, we recognized five outstanding Rock Island–Milan School District 41 team members honored in the 2026 Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to scholar success make a meaningful impact across our schools each day. Congratulations, and thank you for representing our district with excellence!
At the March 10 Board of Education meeting, we recognized Rowan Stockwell of Rock Island High School for an outstanding season on the mat! We'd also like to recognize Coach Joel Stockwell for being inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Hall of Fame! Congratulations to the Stockwell family for representing Rocky and the Rock Island community with determination!
At the March 10 Board of Education meeting, we celebrated Courtney Walls of Rock Island High School for an incredible season. Courtney finished the year 33–0 and captured a state championship. Her title came during the inaugural season of Rocky’s girls wrestling team competing as a standalone program, making the achievement even more historic. Congratulations to Courtney on representing Rocky and the Rock Island community with pride!

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, scholars had the chance to shop using the coupons they received.
