RIMSD#41 School & Parent of the Month Winners

The district's F.A.C.E team selects a parent/guardian and school each month that goes above and beyond!

Parent/Guardian of the Month

The district's F.A.C.E (Family and Community Engagement) recognizes parents/guardians who are making a positive impact in our school district and community.

Schools can nominate a parent/guardian who goes above and beyond to support the needs of children, our school, and/or our community. The winner receives a gift card, a bunt cake, and a sign that can be displayed outside their residence.

Kathy and Tom Slayden

Kathy & Tom Slayden - Thomas Jefferson, nominated by Amy Marshall

The Slaydens have been a fantastic addition to TJ! We have popcorn day once a month and for the last two months they have donated so every single student can have a bag. Also after those terrible winter storms, Tom used his personal plow to clear some areas the Village missed. They don't need to be asked for help, they just step up and make things happen. Tj is so grateful for the Slaydens!

Denise Woods

Denise Woods - Edison Jr. High School, nominated by Reshanda Johnson

Ms. Woods demonstrates the Edison Way by consistently holding her children accountable yet modeling self advocacy. She proactively communicates with Edison and is actively visible.  Ms. Woods is our pulse and connection to the community but also gives great tips for staying healthy during the winter months and encourages administrators to keep up the good work. Everyone needs a cheerleader like Ms. Woods! Edison appreciates Ms. Woods for being a parent we can count on!

Jarrod and Carrie McMurray

Jarrod and Carrie McMurray - Ridgewood, nominated Rosaland Lee

Jarrod and Carrie McMurray consider not only what is best for their own children but all the students, staff and families of Ridgewood. Over the many years they have been loyal Ridgewood parents, they have participated in numerous family engagement events, advocated for the playground at Ridgewood, and supported improvements and initiatives throughout the years.  They truly are an asset to Ridgewood and RIMSD 41.
