More than 400 third-grade students throughout the Rock Island-Milan School District #41 received a paperback dictionary courtesy of the Rock Island Elks Lodge #980 Ladies Auxiliary.

 

The civic organization has donated dictionaries to all RIMSD#41 third-grade students for the past 14 years, donating an estimated 7,200 dictionaries over the years. The Elks say they donate dictionaries every year because not every student has access to the internet so the dictionaries are a hands-on resource students can use at any time.

The Elks Lodge raises about $1,000 each year to make this all possible.
