Rock Island High School's 2023 Fall Play is headed to the Illinois High School Theatre Festival.

 

To qualify for state a school submits a play to the festival and the committee sends a respondent to one of the performances.

 

A respondent was sent to Rocky during its fall play dates Nov. 16 - Nov. 18. This year the fall play was Pure as the Driven Snow.

 

From there the respondents fill out forms and make recommendations to the committee and the committee makes the final decision.

 

The committee selected Rock Island High School!

 

The Illinois High School Theatre Festival hosts over 4,000 high school students for a weekend of workshops and performances. This year, our students will get to do two performances for festival attendees.

 

The first time the Theatre Department submitted a show was back in 2019 and they were selected. They also had two students make the All-State company in 2020. The department has submitted a show for a couple of years due to COVID. 

 

 

The festival is January 11-13, 2024, at Illinois State University.
