Board of Education Meeting Recap

The Rock Island-Milan #41 Board of Education held its regular November meeting on Monday, December 12, 2023. Here is a brief recap of what was discussed at the board meeting.

Special Items:
  • A public hearing was held regarding the Property Tax Levy. The board opened the floor for the public to provide comments on the 2023 Property Tax levy.
  • Representatives from the American Institute of Research presented to the board the findings of the district-wide equity audit.
  • Ms. Jennifer Barton, CFO, provided an overview of completed and in-progress projects from the 1% sales and ESSER funds. 

In action items, the Board approved:
  • Approved a contract with TriCity Electric Co., to provide time and materials for security needs at various schools at a cost not to exceed $200,000.
  • Approved a renewal of a 2-year Website Content Management System contract service from Edlio Inc., in the amount of $7,200.55 per year totaling $14,401.09.
  • Bills for Payment - BOE authorized Bills for Payment dated November 30th in the amount of $4,605,787.08.
  • Approved the July 2023 Financial Statements.
  • Approved the August 2023 Financial Statements.
  • Approved the September 2023 Financial Statements.
  • Approved the Investment Reports for the Quarter Ending September 30, 2023.
  • Approved the Professional Architectural Services of Legat Architects for the district-wide facilities assessments of $119,000. Capital project funds will be utilized for the purchase.
  • Approved the appointments, leave of absence, and resignations of certified and non-certified staff.
 
In Business and finance the board approved:
  • The adoption of the 2023 Property Tax Levy.
  • The resolution abating the taxes heretofore levied for the year 2023 to pay debt services on the district's General Obligation School Bonds (Alternative Revenue Source), Series 2020.
  • The resolution abating the taxes heretofore levied for the year 2023 to pay debt services on the district's General Obligation School Bonds (Alternative Revenue Source), Series 2022.
