Superintendent Dr. Lawrence\'s message to students, staff and community for the week of May 10.

Hello Rock Island-Milan School Community this is Superintendent, Dr. Lawrence here on the campus of Frances Willard Elementary School Home of the Wolves!!! and here's this week's message. I want to first start out by just saying Happy Mother's Day It's Sunday morning, it's a little dreary outside, so I'm hoping that the weather is going to come a little bit more sunny, but again Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms out there for all the hard work you do each and every day providing us meals, providing us a safety and shelter, building us up to be great human beings and individuals moving forward. We definitely can't live without you so again we want to say Happy Mother's Day. For the rest of the district, you know we're going to continue moving forward, we got lots of things to do, we're not going to let COVID-19 stop us from being positive and being healthy and so on our efforts to keep it moving, I want to share with you that this coming week we're going to ask parents go to the school websites, check out the dates and times for picking up your students or your child's personal items. Please go to the school website [www.rimsd41.org] they have that information there, and we want this to be as efficient as possible and make sure that you pick up all of your child's items. Also, we're going to continue moving forward with our Kindergarten Roundup. There is a survey that's online, so we ask that all of our families who have children that will be coming to to our great District, starting kindergarten, please go and take the survey for us. and while you doing that, click on each individual School, nine of elementary schools for our virtual video Kindergarten Roundup. You will get a chance to see all the beautiful classrooms, meet some of our teachers and hear about some of the great things that go on for Kindergarteners in our district. Now you know last week Friday Governor Pritzker put out a 5 Base Plan to get the State of Illinois back to being normal, because it will restore Illinois, and just means that we've got a long way to go to get to the point where we get back to you with in person instruction. But I would say stick to the plan use social distancing, in continuing to wear your mask when you're out in places where you can't be at least 6 feet away from individuals. I just know that we are going to work through it and get we'll get everything back together. Have faith in this and stay positive. We're still going to be giving out meals, 2 days a week at seven locations so families will come out and get what you need, and also for those that need technology I'm going to ask teachers if you have students who aren't logging in, let's try and reach out to those families, so that we can get them technology if they need it, cause we want everyone to continue moving forward in our district. Outside of that, that's it for this week-! -just a little chilly -! Not the weather that I'd love to have right now but I'm just thankful to wake up and have the weather at all. So again, keep working hard everyone stay safe, stay healthy and above all stay positive during this time. Take care and again Happy Mother's Day
