Dr. Lawrence reminds families about Online Registration and discusses starting the school year with Full Remote Learning.

Good Morning Rock Island-Milan School Community This is Dr. Lawrence your superintendent with this week's message from the campus of Earl Hanson Elementary School, Home of the Hawks! An important reminder that online registration continues through July 24th. It began July 1st and is going through July 24th. So for all those families who still have not have a chance to get registered at your school please know that that window still open for you and we look forward to your children being enrolled in our district. Most important note this week is that our school board approved our start of the school plan which is to begin with Full Remote Learning. That means that all students K through 12 will be using our online learning platform. We know that this was a very tough decision to make, but truly feel that this was the best decision for our students are going into the new 2020-21 school year. On the website www.rimsd41.org we have copies of both our Remote Learning Plan and Blended Learning Plan posted on the website so we ask that you please login parents, staff, student, community take a look at the plans and of course there are links for you to provide feedback - questions that you may have. We will be taking your responses to create an FAQ for our stakeholders and also they'll be some Planned Parent and Community meetings coming up the week of July 27th so that we can try to answer additional questions that come up. Also have to point all of our parents to the e-learning section on our website, there are a ton of resources information to help you and your children with remote learning. We know how tough it was starting out in March doing everything online but since we have some time in this process we know that it's going to be much more robust, we'll have a better handle on it, and we ask that you take a look at those resources there are number of tutorials and videos which can help you and your children have adequate amount of success as we start the school year out. So again make sure that you review those documents for us provide us feedback and know that we are going to continue to try and over communicate the importance of the safety, health and well-being of our teachers and students. So stay tuned for more information as it continues to come through my videos, through the Remind system which send text messages to you. There will be some information posted using social media for the most accurate information we ask that you continue to go to our website www.rimsd41.org Please know that these Draft plans that are posted exactly that- they are drafts, which means that your important feedback is going to help us to prepare and communicate a more concise program. That's most of our information this week, I want to leave you there again if you still are in need of computers and internet, access please please please contact your school principal, send a message to our Administration Center but know that it is our goal that every child in RIMSD41 has access to Chromebook at home ,access to the internet, so regardless of the number of children that you have enrolled in our district, it's not one computer per household it is one computer per child registered in our district. We're going to do everything possible to make sure that we are as prepared as could be, to be a successful as we, can be during this time. So as always I will say it again stay safe stay healthy and above all stay positive understanding during this time. We will get through this together. Thank you.
