Good Morning Rock Island-Milan School Community this is your Superintendent Dr. Lawrence with this week's message coming from the campus of Eugene Field Elementary School Home of the Eagles! I first would like to start out by thanking our parents our staff members our community for providing feedback to our Remote learning and Blended learning plans that were posted on our district website. Thank you for those questions; we thank you for the feedback and we will take it and create an FAQ that will also be posted on the district website and hopefully will answer all the questions that came up during this period. In an attempt to provide more opportunities to answer questions, there will be two Virtual Community meetings schedule for this coming week. Monday tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Wednesday the 29th at 6:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for you to log in, put questions in the chat box and I'll be there with members of my cabinet who had various departments in our district. We will try to provide additional information and answer questions that may not have been addressed from information posted earlier. So again this is just another opportunity for us to come together virtually and to interact and get the questions answered because we want the start of our school year with remote learning to be as successful as it possibly can. I will continue to take an opportunity like today to say if any family members out there who need Chromeboosk for the children... and again our goal is to make sure that every child that attends Rock Island-Milan School has access to a district-wide Chromebook. But if you need Chromebooks, if you still need access to Internet please contact your school principal so that we can work on trying to ensure that you are ready for the start of the school year. We continue to follow the guidance from the Governor, State Superintendent, Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education in moving forward to provide academic opportunities for our students. We made the tough decision in Rock Island to start Full Remote [Learning]. I still feel that it's best for our families, safety, health and well-being. We're going to continue to improve on the programming that comes with remote learning to make it more robust to make sure that there is both synchronous live teaching and asynchronous learning taking place. I just want to go ahead and thank you all at this time in advance for the hard work that you completed. I just know that we're all in this together. We look forward to a time when we can get back to you and being in person! So with that I will stay safe, stay healthy and above all stay positive and understanding during this challenging time.
