Good Morning Rock Island-Milan School Community This is your superintendent Dr. Lawrence with this week's message coming from the campus of Denkmann Elementary School- Home of the Timberwolves! Well it's that time of the year, school is about to start next week. August 6th will be our first day of Remote Learning for all student. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of this week will be teacher planning for remote learning, professional development and continue to prepare for our students. I know that there's a lot of excitement and we look forward to seeing our students online. I want to take the opportunity to thank all of the parents staff members and community members that participated in our virtual community meetings earlier this week. It was an opportunity to hear specific questions from you. We got a lot of input and feedback which will be posted on our district website along with the FAQ that are currently there and we created these from previous weeks of the feedback that you provided for our Remote Learning and Blended Learning plan. So again the most current information is available www.rimsd41.org and again we do plan on having more of those virtual community meetings because it's an opportunity for us to all stay in contact with each other. I want to share we will continue our meal distribution through this month of August, through this whole remote learning period. We are opening up more sites now so all of our sites will be open except for Horace Mann Early Learning Center. We will still be serving meals on Mondays and Thursdays of each week from 9 to 11 but there will be some changes now because we're into a new year. If parents have students in more than one school will be free to pick up meals from your oldest child school, the only difference now is that you will be given have to give the names of your children that are within our district. This is different from the summertime meal distribution. We're into a new [school] year we won't have the luxuries of the relax the processes that state gave us from March up until now, so just remember that you will need to give your child's name as you're picking up meals for them during a meal distribution time. We look forward to the coming weeks we're going to kick off school, we're going to continue to give you as much information as possible want to continue to be there to support you as much as possible, so I am going to ask for families to continue enrolling and registering in school because whether your child starts with our Remote Learning plan or you want a Blended Learning plan they still need to be registered in school and also I'm going to continue to put out there that if you need a computer for your child if you need internet service you're asked to contact your principal at your childs school and we will do everything in our power to ensure that you have what you need to continue your child's learning. So with the anticipation of the school year starting look forward to seeing you and your children online. We thank you for your support and as I'm going to always you know in my memos stay safe, stay healthy and above all stay positive and understanding during this challenging time we will get through this together enjoy the upcoming week.
