Good Morning Rock Island-Milan School Community This is your superintendent Dr. Lawrence, with this week's message from the last of my 14 schools! I'm here at Ridgewood Elementary School, Home of the Roadrunner! I want to say thank you to a successful kick off of the school year. We just completed our first week with Full Remote learning. I want to say thank you to all the staff members, administrators, cabinet members who put in weeks and months of time to be prepared for starting school this past week. I've had administrators popping in the classroom, seeing the excitement from students and teachers interacting, we just want to say it's a positive start to the beginning of the school year and we hope that this extends throughout this 2020-21 school year. Important information for parents coming up starting tomorrow, Monday August 10th, you will be receiving a commitment form, where are asking for you to commit for the rest of this quarter your child either being full remote learning or transitioning into Blended Learning, which is a combination of in-person instruction and remote learning. That form comes out on August 10th, and a response is due by August 14th. So parents please make sure that you respond for each of your children. If we don't have a response from parents that means that your child will remain in Full Remote Learning until the end of the quarter, which is October 2nd. At that time we will then send out another commitment form, asking for you to commit to the end of the second quarter. We school quarterly, rather than a full semester, because we know that the parents will have to monitor and see how well their children are doing and make the best decision on which plan works best for their child. So please do not bypass this commitment form when it comes to you and it will be open tomorrow August 10th. I'll leave you with the reminder to go to our district website www.rimsd41.org we have tons of information if you click on the e-learning tab for parents, there are number of resources and supports to help your child do better in school. Lots of resources for Google classroom, and resources for social emotional learning. Parents, if you need that assistance please contact your school social worker, psychologist, principal... we are here to support you. Also if still need technology and Internet contact your school principal so that we can work on getting that to you. Again, we want 2020-2021 to be a successful school year for all of us.
